IVS Files

So what is an IVS file anyway?

This is a question that is asked quite a bit.  The short answer is that an IVS file is what is called a "Single File System".  To the outside world this file looks like and ordinary file, but to ImageView, an IVS file looks and appears just like a mini hard drive.  You can create files and folders within it, rename them, move them around, copy then, in fact you can do just about anything within an IVS file that you can do out on your hard drive inside a native Windows Folder.

By using IVS files you can store your images inside one single file, this way it is much easier to share them around, you just have one file to distribute to your friends and family.  You can optionally protect and IVS file to make sure no one adds or removes any files,  prints or edits anything and you can even set an expiration date.  For the ultimate in protection, you can even password protect an IVS file to keep any images away from unwanted eyes.   The choices are all up to you.

  • Password protection.  No one views it contents without the password.  Period.
  • Group your into IVS files.
  • Can be saved onto CD or DVD.
  • Easier to distribute one single file than thousands of small ones.
  • No loss of quality, you original files are intact and can be exported at will.
  • Files within an IVS file can be organized into folders just as if they were out on your hard drive.
  • IVS files can be made Read-Only.
  • IVS files can be set so no one can export images.
  • IVS files can be set so no one can save images.
  • IVS files can be set so no one can print images.
  • Work seamlessly with ImageView.  Slideshows, editing, effects and so on.
  • IVS files can have optional Author information and notes.
  • For further protection IVS files can be tied to Active Directory or NT4.0 Domains to limit who can open them.

IVS files use industry standard encryption methods utilizing a 256 bit key.
